Soon, seven-storeyed research centre at BHU

VARANASI: Banaras Hindu University ( BHU) will soon have a seven-storeyed research centre. It is also estimated that this research centre will be India's first research centre of its kind in any Indian University. A meeting to discuss the architecture and planning of the this building was held in the presence of vice chancellor, Dr Lalji Singh and other officials of the university and architects at Central Office on Thursday. 


The centre will be built near Computer Centre of the university. It will have a High Performing Computing Centre (HPCC), space for sophisticated equipments, digital media centre and innovation centre on different floors of the building. 

The common facilities for research will also be available in this research centre. In total Rs 70 crore will be spent for structuring the research centre in the university. The building of this research centre will be prepared with advanced designs and concept. Notably, apart from faculty members and students of the university, who will avail the academic and research benefits from it, the research centre will also be used by Indian Institute of Technology (IIT-BHU). The specialists and architects also visited the site of the building construction.

Hindi Week celebration commence at Banaras Hindu University

TNN | Sep 11, 2013, 05.50 AM IST VARANASI: The Hindi Week celebrations started in Banaras Hindu University (BHU) with a formal inauguration at central office of the university on Tuesday. The programmes are being organised by Rajbhasha Cell of the university. Special events will be held on September 13, also commemorated as Hindi Day. 


During this period, from September 10 to September 20, several literary events in Hindi will be organised for students, faculty members and IV grade staff of the university. Addressing the inaugural ceremony, registrar, BHU, Prof GS Yadav emphasised on the use of Hindi in day to day life. A dictation and vocabulary competition was organsied for IV grade staff of the varsity on the inaugural day. 

Meanwhile, faculty of arts organised an essay writing and poetry writing competition for students on Tuesday. Several other literary events and awareness programmes for the promotion of Hindi language will be organised by the faculty on following days of the week. Several literary competitions were also organised at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Rajiv Gandhi South Campus, Barakachha on the occasion. Faculty members gave detailed information to students about contemporary requirements of Hindi and information about several Hindi softwares.

Enjoy Life

Health:
1. Drink plenty of water.
2. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a beggar.
3. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants, and eat less food that is manufactured in plants.
4. Live with the 3 E’s — Energy, Enthusiasm, and Empathy.
5. Make time for prayer and reflection
6. Play more games.
7. Read more books than you did in 2012.
8. Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day.
9. Sleep for 7 hours.
Personality:
10. Take a 10-30 minutes walk every day —- and while you walk, smile.
11. Don’t compare your life to others’. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
12. Don’t have negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment.
13. Don’t over do; keep your limits.
14. Don’t take yourself so seriously; no one else does.
15. Don’t waste your precious energy on gossip.

Students from BHU file FIR

Sep 2, 2013, 06.08AM IST-Girl students Banaras Hindu University (BHU) had filed an FIR against the their male colleagues for abusive and verbal dispute under Bhelupur police station on Sunday.
According to station officer, Bhelupur, Bipin Rai, few girls of the university had gone to see a film forming a group at a mall at Bhelupur crossing. tnnOn their back seat, some boys of the same university were sitting. Meanwhile one girl got hurt on the her head from the back side. The students had a clash and verbal argument. The girls have alleged that the boys were trying to disturb them. The station officer was passing from the area and the girls made a complaint followed by lodging a FIR.

Foundation stone of new garden laid in BHU

VARANASI: The Madhuban Park of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) will soon look different as the foundation stone for a new free style garden was laid by the vice chancellor of the university, Dr Lalji Singh on Thursday. The park will have a unique features which will display the portrait of the founder of the university, Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya through water. The park will have many interesting features including children's park, ladies' corner, rock garden, Mughal and Japanese gardens.

In the same line, to beautify the varsity campus, foundation stones of a fountain was also laid on the occasion in front of the Women's College, BHU. This fountain will have a 12 feet idol of Goddess Saraswati.

Meanwhile, Dr Singh inaugurated a fountain at Sir Sundar Lal (SSL) Hospital premises. The fountain is one of its kind and is made from a budget of Rs 68,000. The V-C also inaugurated a health service complex for the university employees. This complex has been prepared at a cost of Rs 1 crores 90 lakh. The complex consist of a medicine distribution counter, registration desk and many other facilities.

In coming days, the health complex will also have the facilities like X-ray, ultrasound, pathology, physiotherapy and yoga clinics. Registrar, BHU, Dr GS Yadav, dean of students, Dr VK Singh, finance officer, Abhay Kumar Thakur, director, IMS, BHU Dr RG Singh and others were present on the occasion.

IIT BHU Global Alumni Meet on Sept 21

CHICAGO: The IIT BHU Global Alumni Association (BGAA) has scheduled its third Global Meet on the East Coast at the Double Tree Hotel in Somerset, NJ on Saturday, September 21, according to Dr Mnu Vora, Secretary of the association. The Theme of the Meet is “A Journey of Excellence at IIT BHU.” The Meet will include keynote address by noted IIT BHU alumni and four panel discussions on important topics. Vice-Chancellor of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) Dr Lalji Singh and newly appointed Director of IIT BHU Prof. Rajeev Sangal will be the Chief Guests at the Meet. The program will contain a fun filled walk down the memory lane with cocktails and dinner. Participation of alumni from all over the United States, India, and other countries is expected. Well over 230 people have already registered and around 400 attendees are expected.

FIR against BHU vice-chancellor for insulting tricolour Aug 17, 2013,VARANASI: A case was registered on Saturday against the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) vice-chancellor and others faculty members for insulting the national flag during Independence Day function on the campus. Varanasi SSP Ajay Kumar said that a written complaint was filed by Mrityunjay Singh, a resident of Mahamana Nagar Colony, the Lanka police lodged a case against BHU V-C Lalji Singh, varsity registrar GS Yadav, dean of student welfare Vinay Kumar Singh and two NCC officers Colonel Kaul and Lt Colonel SK Singh under Section 2 of the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971. Police said the flag reportedly fell on the ground while the V-C was hoisting it. It was later unfurled in a wrong way. The CD of video recording of the incident was also provided to the police.
