VARANASI: Banaras Hindu University ( BHU) will soon have a seven-storeyed research centre. It is also estimated that this research centre will be India's first research centre of its kind in any Indian University. A meeting to discuss the architecture and planning of the this building was held in the presence of vice chancellor, Dr Lalji Singh and other officials of the university and architects at Central Office on Thursday.
The centre will be built near Computer Centre of the university. It will have a High Performing Computing Centre (HPCC), space for sophisticated equipments, digital media centre and innovation centre on different floors of the building.
The common facilities for research will also be available in this research centre. In total Rs 70 crore will be spent for structuring the research centre in the university. The building of this research centre will be prepared with advanced designs and concept. Notably, apart from faculty members and students of the university, who will avail the academic and research benefits from it, the research centre will also be used by Indian Institute of Technology (IIT-BHU). The specialists and architects also visited the site of the building construction.
